We provide Academic Support, Recreation and Summer/Camp Programs at all our Before and After School Programs
Children who participate in our Academic Support program will have the extra support they need to achieve grade level standards.
We work in partnership with families and schools to promote children’s academic success!
We Provide Highly Effective Learning Environments:
- Each student has the time, space and materials to complete their homework in our after school program.
- Technology that supports school projects and children’s interests: computers, digital camera, software and Internet.
- Materials are available that support children’s school projects.
We Support Grade Level Curricula and Special School Projects:
- Our teachers know and understand the California Academic Content Standards.
- A teacher supervises and helps students clarify instructions, understand homework and stay motivated toward completion.
- We plan short and long-term projects that coincide with grade level curricula and children’s interests.
We Communicate with School Personnel and Parent/Families to support each child’s academic success:
- We work together with each principal to understand how we can support the school’s site improvement, academic, social and API improvement goals.
- We communicate with classroom teachers to understand and support their expectations, assignments and goals for each child.
- Ongoing daily notes, e-mail and conferences are incorporated as needed to ensure we all work together in the child’s best interest.
- We work together to provide developmentally and culturally appropriate support for each child. We help with problem solving, organization, responsibility and child guidance.
- We support and emphasize the growth of the whole child.
We Support Children with Individual and Special Needs:
- We participate in the development of IEPs and supporting goals.
- We work with specialists to ensure that our school age program enhances and builds upon work done in class and various therapies.
- We attend meetings with teachers and resource staff.
- We expand our program observations to include the children’s elementary school classroom.
Here are a few comments by parents about our Academic Support and Recreation Programs:
"Pleasant Grove CDC is extremely supportive of homework time. I think their “homework contract” and academic support is top notch. By the time I pick up my daughter up in the afternoon, her homework is complete and reviewed. I have not seen this kind of support at other facilities. The activities for the children are wonderful. They have the opportunity to join clubs such as gardening, crafts sports and others. They also have many other activities that keep the children busy, engaged and laughing. The teachers are all approachable, friendly and responsible. My husband and I both work full-time and having our daughter safe and happy there is a huge weight off our shoulders." - Leslie Youngstrom
"CDI provides an excellent academic support program. They encourage the children to complete their homework and also provide wonderful activities and clubs. The children are provided a quiet environment to do their homework and staff is there to assist when needed." - Radyne and David Citrenbaum
A parent recently wrote a thank you note to the staff at Raymond Case CDC:
"I was concerned that my daughter was struggling and might be held back this year but because of the academic support that she received at CDC she has now received an academic achievement award at school."
We believe...
that developmentally appropriate programs that support activities and projects based on
children’s interests provide the structure within which each child can express his/her creativity, grow socially, physically and emotionally as well as academically. We believe this philosophy can provide the guidance needed to make authentic connections to each school and give the academic support each child needs to meet the grade level standards.
