FAMILIES: Looking for a before and after school academic support and recreation program for your child?

School Age Academic Support Program

Our School Age Academic Support and Recreation Programs are offered together in all our before and after school programs.

This is the program you and/or your child have been waiting for!
We’ll provide the academic boost your child may need!

We are committed to supporting your child’s academic endeavors. Our goal is to partner with you to meet the needs of your child’s academic development. Our Academic Support Program has four components:

Homework Help: We have enhanced our homework area with the materials and supplies your child needs to complete his or her homework. We have included time in our afternoon schedule to give your child support with his/her daily homework.

School Project Help: We have resources and staff available to help students with their long-term project assignments. We will store projects that are on their way to completion or students can take their projects home for further work.

Support for Individual Student’s Needs: We are willing to work with you and your child’s classroom teacher to develop and follow through with plans that support his/her individual needs. A communication system can be implemented to support clarification of homework assignments, if needed.

Support the School’s Academic Goals: Our staff will partner with elementary school teachers and/or your principal to help the school, and each child, achieve their academic goals.

Here are a few comments from parents about our academic support and recreation programs:

"Both of my children enjoy the Academic Support as well as creative activities offered at Pleasant Grove CDC. As my children have progressed in school, the activities and support offered has continued to enrich them. As a working parent, I really appreciate the support they offer in the area of homework as it allows me to spend more time with my children when we get home. CDI offers a quiet place to work and teachers who provide tutoring support to children who need it. In addition, CDI offers wonderful enrichment opportunities for the children as well. My children have been offered such enrichment activities as science, gardening, book writing, cartoon drawing and cooking, just to name a few. Not only does the center offer these activities, they do so in a loving and caring atmosphere."

"Our son thoroughly enjoys being a part of the clubs Joseph Sims CDC offers. For instance, our son loves to draw and the art clubs have allowed him to learn several aspects of sketching and drawing techniques. He also likes sports. Currently, he is involved in “extreme dodge ball” and he comes home excited about the games. The homework club allows him the opportunity to complete homework in the afternoon. As parents, we are so happy he is getting exercise and his homework completed, so we can spend some quality time as a family in the evening."

School Age Recreation Program

CDI/CDC has led the field in providing high quality educational and recreational school programs for over 35 years. We offer part-time and full-time schedules, summer and off-track camps. Our developmentally appropriate school age programs are designed to meet the social, physical, cognitive and academic needs of children in kindergarten through sixth grade (grades served are determined by site). Our Before and After School programs offer a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. All our activities are hands-on and encourage children to build new skills while fostering creativity and self-expression.

Our before and after school programs offer:

2. Well equipped, safe, enriched, home-like environments.
3. A curriculum that includes visual and performing arts, science and technology and sports.
