FAMILIES: Looking for a high quality infant program?
Infant/Toddler Program
Infants are born ready to learn and have an innate urge to explore and absorb information from the sights, sounds and smells around them. We provide an attractive, interesting environment where infants can freely explore and reach their full potential.
Our infant/toddler curriculum is relationship based. Infants and toddlers develop close bonds with their caregivers giving them a sense of security and self-esteem. Current brain development research shows how warm, responsive, consistent care and its continuity foster many aspects of successful social, emotional and cognitive development in infants toddlers.
Our infant programs are designed to: Provide individualized, responsive care for each child. Our caregivers explore ways to get “in tune” with each infant by respecting each child’s uniqueness, letting the child set the pace, recognizing the child’s feelings, offering choices and knowing how to read and respond appropriately to his/her cues.
Encourage continuity of care where one caregiver provides nurturing support for his/her group of children from the time of enrollment until three years of age. Group care that supports the child’s attachment to a special caregiver and small group of children over time, promotes the child’s healthy growth and development.
Provide a warm, supportive, clean and safe environment. An environment that is predictable and organized encourages exploration, supports the development of abilities, and gives a sense of belonging and well being to a young child.
Have caregivers observe and document infants’ interests and skills so they can facilitate learning. We use the natural interests and curiosity of each child to plan learning opportunities. Caregivers look for ways to expand rather than interrupt spontaneous learning.
Give children uninterrupted time to explore and make discoveries about how people and materials in the world function and interact. Through sensory experience infants get their first lessons in how things function and in understanding similarities and differences.
Help each child know, accept and take pride in himself/herself. We promote full inclusion and help each child feel accepted in the group, assist children in learning to communicate, and encourage feelings of empathy and mutual respect among children and adults.
Support individualized service to families by getting to know each family, forming partnerships with parents through daily communication, building mutual trust, involving families in the program and respecting cultural and family differences.
Each child is unique and the protagonist of his/her own growth. Children desire to acquire knowledge have much capacity for curiosity and amazement, and yearn to create relationships with others and to communicate. Children are open to exchange and reciprocity. From early in life they negotiate with the social and physical worlds – with everything the culture brings them. - Loris Malaguzzi
