Professional/Staff Development

Our agency believes strongly in investing in our employees to encourage their best work. We provide a variety of comprehensive staff development and/or training for all teachers and managers over the course of the year. A few of the topics include: program and curriculum, health, safety & nutrition, human resources, leadership, marketing, customer service, accounting and finance.

Coaching Cluster support groups are also co-created to meet the program & curriculum needs of more advanced teachers & site supervisors. We encourage learning in cohort groups and begin with a focus on core theory and practical application for infant/toddler, preschool and school age programs. We also provide focus groups and implementation forums to share best practices and to meet the goals of individual teachers, center improvement plans, and the agency mission.

All employees receive training in module topics that include adult/child interactions & problem solving, curriculum, routine/schedule, and assessment. The resource & development team co-plan additional professional development experiences for staff that include child/youth development theory & practice, and short and long term projects/activities that connect to school readiness content for preschoolers or to school day content for school age learning. Our seasonal camp programs offer a unique training experience that differs from the school year programs: fun, friendship and making memories are the theme to guide these staff experiences.

Leadership Institute

We recognize that leadership effectiveness is essential to having exceptional programs and a great place to work for employees. Our agency has established a high level training program for all managers involved in delivering services to our clients. Participants receive in-depth training and tools that set them up to become great people managers; the heart of our goal to become a great workplace and the employer of choice.

Our leadership curriculum is based on a facilitative model of relational leadership – a model recognized by the nation’s best workplaces which fosters intrinsic employee engagement and a commitment to excellence. Theoretical information is applied to real-world situations in a supportive, values based, and co-learning environment. The Institute supports skill building in communication, conflict management, coaching and performance management, facilitation of meetings, business development and strategic planning as well as strategic recruitment and retention. Managers who successfully complete the 10 part Foundational Supervisory Skills course are given opportunities to explore topics in more depth in advanced mentoring and training sessions.
